14 Chinese nationals nabbed for cocaine

Fourteen Chinese nationals were on Tuesday arrested by detectives from CID Drugs and Narcotics, Harare, for taking dangerous drugs and cocaine and a lodge in Highlands, Harare, in a development that puts on the spotlight the emotive issue of drugs and substance abuse in the country.
Police confirmed the arrests saying the CID Drugs and Narcotics reacted to a tip and arrested the 14 for abuse and dealing in dangerous drugs at a lodge along Knightsbridge Road.
“The suspects were apprehended while sniffing cocaine placed in a wooden tray. Police recovered two sachets of cocaine, one sachet of Crystal Meth and another containing a mixture of cocaine and Crystal Meth,” police said in a terse statement.
In another incident, police in Beitbridge arrested Last Chiyangwa (44), a bus conductor, after a suitcase containing 24 cobs of dagga was recovered from the luggage in a bus at the Beitbridge Border Post.
Investigations led to the arrest of Studymore Marimo (44) in Harare after he received the suitcase.
The incidents have put on the spotlight drug and substance smuggling in the country with the issue of Chinese nationals, now before the courts expected to blow the lead on those supplying or smuggling the substances.
